This porch went from boring and gloomy and warm and
inviting.. The client's total bill for the Decorating Coach
was $45 for 3 hours (on 2 different occasions) and $81
from the fabric store. Considering how much the family
uses their new porch- that's a great deal!
Problem:
- Retired grandparents Bob and Margie were downsizing from
their 4000 sq. ft. family home of 30 years to a smaller condo
and wanted some outside advice
- Didn’t want to make that big commitment to a designer.
- “We didn’t walls knocked down or anything- it was a brand
new condo! I just wanted someone to help us make the
transition from the big house to new condo.”
Decorating Coach Solution:
- Fresh Start with Old Memories.
- “I helped Margie on maybe 5 different consultations. We
did her 1 hour free consult in the new condo and I gave
some recommendations about accent walls and paint
colors".
- "The 2nd time, I met with her at the old family home and we
went through room by room deciding what would work in
the new condo and what had to go.
- After that, Margie called to meet with the painters she hired
and all of us sat down and mapped out the color schemes
for their new home. I don’t think any of her bills were over
$100.”
Client reaction:
“Where was he 30 years ago?
He made this whole transition easy and actually fun. And he made
me feel like I was his only client- he would call me from stores and
say “Can you meet me here?
I think I found a perfect light for the Grandchildren’s room” and he
didn’t bill me for it!
This was money well spent. But I liked most was that I could use
when I needed him- an hour here- wait a few weeks, 2 hours
there...you get the idea.
No pressure at all to make a thousand dollar commitment”
Be your own success story! Call Will on 717-215-4279 and have a simple chat about your project. If he thinks he can help, he will arrange a free one hour consultation to give you some free advice and decided if you ant to work together. After than- it’s only $45.00 an hour. Use him as much or as little as you want!

Case Study: The Problem...
- Business owner Elizabeth’s beach house had flood damage
from a 3 floor commode that leaked all the way down.
- Since she was too busy to get down to the shore, she
hired Will, gave him the keys, told him how to get there
and didn’t worry about a thing. “I had seen Will’s work
at a party I went to and I had called a reference who –
among other things- told me how much they trusted him.
- After meeting him, I got a good gut feeling and sent him
down to the beach house to help get it ready for the
upcoming summer season.
- He would call and give me updates of what he was doing,
and he actually helped me out in a pinch and played
projector manager when then the construction crew tried
to pull a fast one over on me. It was a God send that Will
was there to keep them accountable.”
Decorating Coach Solution: “Not only re paint but give the
whole house a new look". “
- It was pretty easy for me to see past the water damage to
what great potential Betty’s house had.
- The paint colors were pretty flat and didn’t do a lot to
make the home feel like a vacation get away.
- I knew from talking to Betty that she didn’t want anything
kitschy- like seashells on the wall, but I wanted to give her
a sophisticated beach feel. I spent a lot of energy getting
the layout of the main room just right.
- Betty trusted me enough to do some de cluttering for her
and I re arranged the furniture in almost every room.
- I was especially pleased with the way that the turret room
turned out.
- In interviewing Elizabeth, I knew her young grandchildren
used the house and that most of her rental clients had
children. I thought painting the ceiling a different color
would really excite the kids.
- The accessory shopping for this project was a little
different. I knew of some people who were selling a lot
of their art at a really good price.
- I called Elizabeth and got a budget then negotiated with
these folks to buy 3 of their pieces and use for Elizabeth-
passing the savings right to her. I am always keeping my
eyes peeled for my clients and it’s not uncommon for me
to call and old client and say” Get to this store as soon as
you can and check out the cushions.
- I think they would look great in your dining room and they
are on sale. Who would have thought shopping could
actually help other people?
Client Reaction:
- “I am really torn- I want to use the house now more than
ever, but everyone who sees it wants to rent it from me!
- I was flabbergasted when I walked in a saw it. The
before and after difference was amazing!
- And he did it all! His bill was broken out with his time,
and copies of the receipts from his purchases from the
local stores. He only ever charged me for his time.
- But the thing I liked most was being able to refer to Will
as “my decorator”. That sounded so exciting! Only I didn’
t tell people he was only $45.00 an hour.
