Problem:  Paula, a busy mother of 2, never, ever!  used her dining room and
her living room was overgrown with toys and the kid's stuff...

Decorating Coach Solution:  Reclaim that valueable square footage and make it
for Paula!  We started with a homework assignment- Paula was to complete a
"purge" by my first paid visit.  We then designed a layout where the dining room
was turned into a family office space and we moved the dining room table into a
big dead space in the living room.  We shopped together for paint and for
cabinets that we used in the space.  She did the painting, and I came back to
help position the new work stations and cabinets.

Result:  "We have used that room more in 3 weeks than we did in 3 years!  The
purging that Will assigned me to me was worth my $260 bill alone!  Now the
boys have someplace to put their stuff, we have an organized family work space
for homework and my husband and mine home office,
and we are actually
spending more time together!   There is no way I could have ever imagined what
Will saw."

Problem:  Tom, a confirmed workaholic with no sense of taste hated his dark
home office and thought his gym equipment looked stupid in the middle of the
downstairs...

Decorating Coach Solution:  It's simple!  Make your office into a gym, and we'll
use that space that he wasn't using at all as a tailor made office!  I sketched out
my plan for Tom and we actually moved his gym equipment during his free
consultation.  He trusted me to pick out the paint colors for the space and he hired
me to find some inexpensive but cool office furniture.  The rest of Tom's house
was traditional, so he let me make his new office more contemporary.  We were
even able to take Tom's outdated china cabinet and use that as a pretty cool
looking bookshelf/office organizer.  With the unused space, I picked out a cheap
Ikea couch and bookshelf, put it together for him and gave him another seating
area.
Result:  "I was blown away.  I hadn't seen Bill in a few days but when I went
downstairs, I was blown away with what I saw.  I now have a separate home gym-
and an office space that is better than I could have imagined.  I really had no idea
what it would look like but I know that I'm using that space more than I ever have.  I
really didn't have a budget and was worried a decorator would cost me big bucks.
He spent under $1000 on new furniture and paint, and billed for about 22 hours of
his time.  Even if I had the vision that the Harrisburg Decorating Coach did, I would
have NEVER had the time.  Now if I can only start USING my new gym...
Problem:  Mike and Terri purchased a modular home at the
shore that was still painted in flat white.  They wanted to
save most of their money for putting on a new deck but
needed to comfortably (and affordably!) furnish their
vacation house...
Decorating Coach Solution:   Let's go through what you have
in your house in Harrisburg and see what we can use down at
the shore.  We selected some paint that was different than
what they would have used at their primary home, and they
had me do the painting.  They actually had me work with the
deck contractor and I picked out the material, gave the
contractor my sketch, and chose the color.  We were a little
under the budget so Mike and Terri let me do some shopping
for some great priced deck furniture that I found on clearance.

Result:  "Unbelievable.  People come down to visit and they
can't believe they are in a modular home!  We bought this
house because of the view, and Will worked with the
contractor to create an "infinity pool effect."  He took our million
dollar view and made it a 2 million dollar view.  Since we both
work, we gave him the keys and came down one weekend to
see everything in place.  I really liked the way he didn't add
anything to the bill- he actually went bargain hunting for us that
kept us under out budget. "
Problem:  Georgie, another working mom was stuck in a major do i yourself renovation.  She and her husband had
spent a year re doing their living room but wasn't sure what to do next..

Decorating Coach Solution:  claim that valueable square footage and make it for Paula!  We started with a homework
assignment- Paula was to complete a "purge" by my first paid visit.  We then designed a layout where the dining room
was turned into a family office space and we moved the dining room table into a big dead space in the living room.  We

Problem:   Tammi and Brian moved into their new condo but didn't have
a real clear sense of what they wanted to do.  About the only thing they
did know was that they didn't want to spend a lot of money...

Decorating Coach Solution:   Make do with what you have!  We started
with paint color then used their existing pieces.  I sort of talked them into a
trip to a furniture liquidator where we found a
steal on a leather coach.
Later, on my own time, I called them to tell them I found a PERFECT
painting that would really make the room pop- I'm glad they trusted me
enough to pick up right then and there.  I was even able to negotiate a
discount for them.  They did the painting, and I came back over for some
quick placement and now I think they really have a showplace!

Result:  "We get comments all the time and I love telling people "Oh, my
decorator
did that.  What people are astounded by was that we only paid
him about $300 for his work!  And we only spent another $500 on new
pieces- he was always keeping an eye out for us but that time never
appeared on the bill.  The whole experience was loads of fun and after we
had finished the living room/dining room we called him back to help with
bedroom.  He came across an old door that he picked up for us, we
re-sanded it and now it's a headboard! I would have never thought of that..
I would say my average bill to a client is about $250.  I think my clients
really like the fact that any material, furniture of accessories are always at
the direct cost.
Problem:   Anne had big plans for her basement and although she wasn't ready to start, she really wanted a direction or a
vision of what she wanted in the end...

Decorating Coach Solution:   This was a case of a series of rooms that had lost it's purpose.  We met and she hired me right away!
We spent about 60 minutes sketching out a simple floor plan that divided the space up into separate defined areas.  I really think a
cool and unique custom colored concrete floor would make the room really stand out.  Later I took her to a guy I know who designs
concrete floors and I showed Anne what I was thinking.

Result:  "I am so excited!  I finally have a plan, and a sense of what my husband and I will be working towards.  Decorating Coach
helped us work out a budget and actually broke our future plans into phases.  The colors are all picked out, the lay out all done..we
are set to go!  Will got a plan that lets us do it ourselves and on our own budget.  The $45 an hour for 3 hours was time well spent! "
Problem:
Working parents Jay and Rene had finished
the downstairs of their home right moving in
but they just couldn't’ seem to find time to get
to the 5 upstairs bedrooms and 2 baths.  “I
just could’t get started because I didn’t know
WHERE to start.  And truthfully? I was a little
overwhelmed,” explains Rene.
Decorating Coach Solution:  Interview,
Purge and Get it Done.
In the free consult, I explained what I had in
mind, and Rene instantly got it.  She may not
think so, but if she had the time, she could
have done this herself, but she just didn’t
have the 15 hours or so to work on it.   First I
gave them a ‘homework assignment” to have
the rooms completed purged one week.  No
arguing.  Rene and Jay had a ton of great
finds to use, so I didn’t have to spend a
single dollar on accessories other than paint
and my time- everything else I used for the
upstairs they had.  The let me go through
their whole home, the attic and the storage
room to select items I thought would really
work well.  And by “pushing them and
coaching them to get the purge done- their
space looked well instantly.  The kid’s rooms
were a lot of fun.  In interviewed both of them
for a while and get a real sense of what they
wanted.  In each of their rooms, I did some
hand stenciling and some free-hand original
art on the wall that really got them excited.  I
then was able to carry over two different
themes and combine into their shared
bathroom.  The guest room was simple.
They had this beautiful (and expensive) bed
that was positioned wrong.  That and the
paint color in there made the guest room like
cramped. I called a friend and we moved the
massive bed around and after the coat of a
warmer tone, the room looked intimate, not
cramped.  I used the same tactic in the
master bedroom- reposition the furniture and
a different paint color that would really make
their gorgeous bedroom set stand out.  I
think they were a little nervous when we paint
shopping but I was glad that the trusted me-
and I know they loved it.”
Client reaction-He made it a lot of fun for the
kids.  He wouldn’t let us; my 7 year old
daughter and 10 year old son see it until he
was all done.  It was like those reveals on the
design shows on TV!  It was so much fun
and the kids loved it!  There is no way we
could have done all this for the money that
Will did and in the amount of time.  I think he
completed the whole upstairs in about 10
days.  One of the reasons I had delayed
doing anything was I thought it would be a
ten thousand dollar job!  But after he made
us purge- something that we kept saying we
would do- he was able to use accessories
we already had and make everything look
new!  I am telling everyone I know about
him…well, except the neighbors.  I want to be
known as having the best interior in the
whole neighborhood!
